Plowden & Fallow’s English Lavender Shaving Cream

Traditional wet shaving products have been for centuries firmly lathered by the gentleman during their morning routine. However, we here at Plowden & Fallow, whilst recognising the gentleman will continue to be predominant user of our shaving products, we certainly didn’t want the ladies to feel left out, and as with all our products we wished to ensure that we also had some unisex appeal contained within our shaving ranges.

Today, we shine a spotlight on our English Lavender Shaving Cream; a traditional style wet shaving cream which may equally be utilised by women as well as men in their pursuit of smooth and flawless skin.

The Essence of English Lavender in our Shaving creams

Within Plowden & Fallow's shaving collection lies the English Lavender Shaving Cream, a fragrant symphony that captures the essence of timeless elegance. Lavender, with its calming and soothing properties, creates an indulgent experience that goes beyond the mere act of shaving. This delicate scent, derived from the lavender fields of the Cotswolds in England, envelops the senses, turning a routine into a ritual. it is notable that the fragrance in our English Lavender Shaving cream is derived entirely from natural essential oils.

Why English Lavender shaving cream for Women?

Women, like men, deserve a shaving experience that transcends the mundane. Our English Lavender shaving cream is formulated to cater to all skin types. Here's how:

  1. Soothing Sensation: Lavender is renowned for its calming effects, making it an ideal choice for women looking for a gentle and soothing shave. Our shaving cream helps minimize irritation, leaving the skin feeling refreshed and revitalized.

  2. Effortless Elegance: The rich creamy texture of our shaving cream allows for a smooth and precise shave, promoting an effortless glide of the razor. This ensures a closer shave with minimal discomfort.

  3. Versatile Application: Our English Lavender Shaving Cream is versatile and can be appreciated by anyone seeking a touch of sophistication in their grooming routine. Lavenders gender-neutral appeal makes it a perfect shaving cream for use by the ladies as well as men.

How to use Shaving cream

We will further cover in future blogs how to best use our shaving creams. However, our shaving creams including English Lavender are of a ‘wet style’, this means they should be brought to a rich creamy lather and applied to the skin with the use of a shaving brush, prior to shaving with a razor occurring.

A lather can be created via two methods:

  1. A brush and shaving bowl- with this method a thumb nail sized amount of cream is placed onto a damp, warm shaving brush, then the user should commence circular motions with the brush varying the speed, the speed should become faster as the cream begins to turn in consistency. With some minimal practice the user will be able to bring the cream to a rich creamy lather, at this stage it can applied to the area to be shaved.

  2. Directly on the skin- Due to our easy lather formulation our shaving cream may also be brought to a lather directly on the skin by following the same process above, utilising the same wet shaving brush, but creating circular motions directly onto the skin instead of in a bowl.

Plowden & Fallow’s top tips for a using shaving cream

With the above in mind, we would suggest a couple of top tips for women utilising our shaving creams:

  1. Warmth- Begin the shaving process by placing the shaving brush (and bowl if utilising) in the sink with warm water for a minute or two. Warm water brings out the best in our shaving creams, the heat helping to create a luxurious lather, as well as releasing the fragrant essential oils contained within the creams.

  2. A little water- After soaking the shaving brush, the excess water should be flicked off, so the brush remains damp. Too much water in the lather will create a thin foamy cream which will not provide the best of shaves. With a little practise users should perfect the technique in no time. The consistency of the lather can also be adapted with the addition of a few drops of water if so required.

  3. Make use of a quality shaving brush- shaving brushes can be purchased online for as little as a few £’s. During the lathering process the consensus should be to ‘load’ the brush with the cream which is then applied to the skin. Plowden & Fallow shaving brushes are produced with synthetic fibres which we like to believe are the ultimate shaving tool, whilst remaining cost effective.
