Plowden & Fallow began with a fascination for the curious, the beautifully made and the wonderfully eccentric.

Founded by Richard Plowden, the idea was simple: to create a fragrance house with character.

A place where fragrance could have a story, where craftsmanship still mattered, and where there was room to do things a little differently.

I've always been drawn to the things that make you want to know more. People, places, stories, traditions and the unexpected.

That curiosity is at the heart of Plowden & Fallow.

Our fragrances are inspired by all sorts of things. Some familiar, some obscure, some imagined. A person, a place, a memory, a piece of history or simply an idea that catches our attention.

We make what interests us. And then we see where it takes us.

Made properly

We believe quality starts long before a product reaches you.

It's in the ingredients, the people who make it and the attention paid to every detail.

We work with skilled perfumers, manufacturers and craftspeople who have spent years perfecting their trade.

Our fragranced products are made in small batches here in the UK, with care taken over everything from the fragrance itself to the bottle and packaging.

Sometimes, doing something properly simply takes a little longer.

A little unconventional

We're inspired by tradition, but we're not here to recreate the past.

Britain provides plenty of inspiration: its history, characters, countryside and eccentricities, but we take what interests us and make it our own.

We like beautiful things. We care about quality. But we also like a raised eyebrow, an unexpected idea and a good story.

We don't believe luxury needs to take itself too seriously.

It should evoke something. A person. A place. A memory. A feeling. Or perhaps somewhere you've never been.

Each fragrance begins with a story, an idea or a fascination, and is given a personality of its own.
