Stockist Spotlight: La Fragancia
We’re delighted to introduce one of our valued stockists, La Fragancia, an independent fragrance and body care boutique based on Load Street in the historic riverside town of Bewdley, Worcestershire.
La Fragancia is dedicated to artisan and niche perfumery, with a carefully curated edit of personal fragrance, home fragrance, candles, diffusers, and bath and body products. The emphasis is on distinctive scent profiles, smaller fragrance houses, and products chosen for their quality rather than mass appeal. It’s the kind of shop where you can take your time, test properly, and discover something that feels personal.
Since opening, La Fragancia has established itself as a destination for those seeking something different from mainstream retail. Visitors to Bewdley often discover it while exploring the town’s independent shops, and locals return for its considered selection and knowledgeable, welcoming service. We’re proud that Plowden & Fallow forms part of that collection, sitting naturally among other carefully selected fragrance brands such as Ortigia Sicilia, Maison Matine, New Notes and more.
Independent boutiques like La Fragancia play an important role in keeping high streets individual and characterful, and their commitment to specialist fragrance makes them a perfect partner for us.
A Brief History of Bewdley
La Fragancia is based in Bewdley, a historic market town on the banks of the River Severn. The town’s origins stretch back to at least the medieval period, when its position on the river made it an important inland port and trading centre. Timber, agricultural goods, and other commodities were transported along the Severn, contributing to Bewdley’s growth and prosperity.
Bewdley was granted borough status in the 15th century and developed around its broad main thoroughfare, Load Street, once wide enough to accommodate markets and river traffic moving through the town. Much of the architecture seen today reflects later prosperity, particularly from the 17th and 18th centuries.
A defining landmark is the elegant stone bridge completed in 1798 and designed by Thomas Telford. The bridge replaced an earlier medieval crossing and remains a central feature of the town, linking Bewdley with neighbouring Wribbenhall.
Today, Bewdley is known for its Georgian character, riverside setting, and strong independent retail scene. Its combination of heritage and community focus makes it an ideal home for a specialist fragrance boutique like La Fragancia and we’re delighted to have our collections represented there.
